Over the years Fillmore Central has had major success in the District Career Development Event held every March at Southeast Community College in Beatrice. These events included contests about Agronomy, to Ag Sales, to Livestock Management, to Welding. This year we had 7 teams qualify for the state convention in April. The Natural Resources team 1 qualified for state. Avis Koca received an individual purple. Sydney Simacek and Abbi Smith received individual reds. Also on team one was Sadie Birky. Team 2 received three individual reds, Brock Tatro, Carson Tatro, and Koby Head. Also on team 2 was Gunnar Chapman. The Agronomy team 1 also qualified for state. Connor Asche received an individual purple. Carson Tatro, Brock Tatro and Chloe Stofer received individual blues. Also competing in Agronomy was Gunnar Chapman, Jared Engle, and Izayah Morris. The Ag Sales team qualified for state. Tori Stoldorf received an individual purple, and Lauryn Monteforte received an individual red. Competing on the ag sales team with them was Sydney Simacek and Torie Glenn. The welding team qualified for state. Kyle Broman received an individual purple in stick welding. Dylan Vodicka received an individual blue and Parker Uldrich received a individual red in oxygen acetylene welding. Kaleb Schiel received a purple in wire welding. The meats team qualified for state and had one individual red from Kaleb Schiel, also participating in meats was Connor Asche, Sadie Birky, Trenton Srajhans, Parker Uldrich, and Conner Nun. The Agriscience team had 2 individual blues from Finn Neiman and Thayne Kimbrough. Dakota Nun and Dillon Salmon received reds. Also participating in Agriscience was Jared Stephens and Bob Smith. The Farm Management Team also qualified for state. Tori Stoldorf received an individual blue. Torie Glenn, Lauryn Monteforte, and Dylan Vodicka pulled in 3 individual reds. Also participating in this CDE was Chloe Stofer, Dillon Salmon, Bob Smith, and Jared Stephens. Every April thousands of high schoolers migrate to Lincoln to participate in the annual Nebraska State FFA Convention. The Fillmore Central competed in multiple Career Development Events, Leadership Development Events, and attended leadership workshops, award sessions, and listened to inspirational speeches throughout the three days.
The Welding team was deemed State Champions by placing first in the state. Dylan Vodicka placed first in Oxygen-Acetylene Welding and received an individual purple. Kyle Broman placed third in Stick Welding and received a purple. Kaleb Scheil received an blue ribbon in Wire Welding. In Ag Sales, Tori Stoldorf was deemed State Champion by placing first and received a purple. Lauryn Monteforte received a blue and Kaylea Geiser received a red. Torie Glenn rounded out the team which received a blue ribbon. In the Agriscience CDE team consisted of Dillon Salmon, Dakota Nun, Thayne Kimbrough, and Finn Neiman. Dakota received an individual blue and Thayne and Finn each received a red. The Agriscience Team received a team blue. The Agronomy team of Connor Asche, Brock Tatro, Carson Tatro, and Conner Nun received a team red. Connor Asche and Brock Tatro each received blues. The Natural Resources team of Avis Koca, Gunnar Chapman, Koby Head, and Abbi Smith received a team white. Avis and Abbi each received reds and Koby Head received a white. The Farm and Agribusiness management team consisted of Bob Smith and Jared Stephens. Bob received an individual white. The Marketing Plan Team, Sydney Simacek, Chloe Stofer, and Torie Glenn, received a team red. Sadie Birky received a bronze medal in Junior Public Speaking.
Our Hall of Chapters display, created by Lauryn Monteforte, Tori Stoldorf, and Sydney Simacek, received a Bronze rating. Tori Stoldorf also had an Agriscience Fair Project which placed second in the upper grade, individual division in the Plant Systems category. Our chapter also received recognition for participating in the Farm Bureau’s Connecting Chapters Ag Literacy program.
Seven chapter members completed proficiencies awards and 4 were state finalist. Finalist results include: Alexis Schmidt, first place in Agriculture Education Placement. Maddy Kimbrough, 1st place in Equine Production Placement. Lydia Birky, first place in Small Animal Production & Care Entrepreneurship. Sydney Simacek, second place in Health and Human Services Placement. Chloe Stofer applied in the area of Health and Human Services Placement and received a state silver rating. Kyle Broman received a state bronze rating in Forage Production Placement. Carson Tatro also received a state bronze rating in Outdoor Recreation Placement
Our chapter also had 7 members receive their State FFA Degree. These members were: Kyle Broman, Dylan Vodicka, Gunnar Chapman, Abbi Smith, Chloe Stofer, Avis Koca, and Sydney Simacek. Congratulations to all who participated. Thank you to all the parents and coaches who helped preparing for state easy. Also thank you to the parents that helped out during convention to make the days easier.
